Ernest Finley named new Montgomery Police Chief

Mayor Strange introduced 29 year law enforcement veteran as new police chief

MONTGOMERY -- Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange introduced Ernest Finley, a 29 year veteran of law enforcement who most recently served as deputy chief of the Atlanta Police Department's Community Services Division, as the city's new chief of police.

Chief Finley is a graduate of Rutgers University who served four years of service in the U.S. Army. After his service, he began a career with the Atlanta Police Department in 1986, climbing steadily up the ranks. Finley's possesses extensive experience in community policing and collaborating with neighborhood leaders and other partners to reduce crime. For his service, Finley was awarded Officer of the Year in 2001 from the NPU V Community, Outstanding Community Service in 2001 from the Peoplestown Revitalization Corporation and City of Atlanta, Quality Customer Service Initiative for the Third and Fourth Quarters of 2001.
